Gramineae Cenchrus ciliaris L.

This warm season grass from South Africa includes both bunch and spreading types. Stems are generally under 2 feet in height. It does well on light, sandy soil and is drought resistant but not cold tolerant. It is nutritious and palatable and stands grazing well. It is grown mainly in South Texas for pasture.
