Source: Magness et al. 1971

The plant is an erect, biennial herb, 2 to 3 feet high. The leaves are large--up to 9 inches long by 5 inches wide, pubescent. The dried leaves are used sparingly for flavoring in cookery. Its use in this country has been largely replaced by sage.
