Garbanzo is a pea-like, bushy, hairy, annual plant about 2 feet in height.
Leaves are compound pinnate. The culture is the same as for dry beans. The
edible seeds borne in pods are near round, but flattened on the sides, about
1/3-inch diameter.
Season, seeding to harvest: 4 to 5 months.
Production in U.S.: 2,500 to 5,000 tons. Additional quantities imported.
Use: Cooked in soup, salad.
