In recent years many varieties that are hybrids of Sorghum sp. have been developed and become commercial. These represent both grain and forage types, or dual purpose types. Also, methods of producing hybrid seed of Sorghum sp. have been developed commercially so a number of hybrid forage sorghum varieties are now available. In general, these forage types resemble S. sudanense but may vary in vigor, coarseness of plant, sweetness and time from seeding to maturity.
