Source: Magness et al. 1971Winter purslane is a short-lived annual with opposite, somewhat fleshy leaves mostly rising from the root, generally ovate in shape and up to 3 inches long. The plant is mainly grown in winter in warm countries, and the leaves are used as salad and pot herbs. Exposure of edible parts is comparable to that of spinach.
